256 Hz Root Chakra Traditional Tibetan Singing Bowl - Note C
$480.00
A deeply resonant traditional Tibetan singing bowl tuned to 256 Hz, handmade from scratch through an ancient artisanal process and created for grounding, meditation, relaxation, body awareness, and therapeutic sound practices.
The 256 Hz Root Chakra Traditional Tibetan Singing Bowl is tuned to the note C at 256 Hz, the foundational frequency of our 432 Hz-based seven-chakra singing bowl system. In contemporary chakra sound practices, the note C is associated with the Root Chakra, making this bowl especially suited to grounding-focused meditation, relaxation, body awareness, and foundational sound work.
This is a traditional Tibetan singing bowl made entirely by hand from raw materials. The process is slow, skilled, and highly labor-intensive. The metal passes through many stages of shaping, heating, refining, sizing, finishing, and tuning, with the bowl being handled and worked repeatedly—thousands of times throughout its creation—to achieve the right shape, size, thickness, weight, note, and resonance.
This is what makes a traditional singing bowl fundamentally different from a mass-produced instrument. Every dimension matters. The shape of the bowl, its walls, weight, diameter, thickness, and proportions all contribute to the final sound. Skilled artisans work the metal gradually until the bowl develops the desired frequency and its characteristic complex resonance.
Our bowls are rooted in the traditional Tibetan and Himalayan metal singing-bowl tradition. They are not crystal singing bowls and are not manufactured as modern, mass-produced sound instruments. For practitioners seeking an authentic traditional approach to Himalayan sound practices, the material, craftsmanship, process, and acoustic character of the bowl are all part of the experience.
The bowl is created using a 432 Hz tuning system rather than the modern A = 440 Hz reference. Within this system, the note C corresponds to 256 Hz, providing the deep, steady tone used for the Root Chakra in contemporary seven-chakra sound practices.
The Root Chakra, traditionally known as Muladhara, is associated with grounding, stability, physical presence, and connection to the earth. The deep resonance of this bowl provides an anchoring sound for meditation and contemplative practices, helping create an intentional environment for slowing down, listening, and reconnecting with the body.
Singing bowls have a long history within Himalayan and Buddhist contemplative traditions, while modern research is increasingly examining singing-bowl interventions as a complementary sound and vibrational practice. Recent systematic reviews have found promising evidence involving relaxation, anxiety, depression, sleep, wellbeing, and physiological measures.

The 256 Hz Root Chakra Singing Bowl is the first bowl in our seven-chakra system based on 432 Hz tuning.
Within this system, the seven chakra frequencies are:
256 Hz — C — Root Chakra
288 Hz — D — Sacral Chakra
324 Hz — E — Solar Plexus Chakra
364.5 Hz — F — Heart Chakra
384 Hz — G — Throat Chakra
432 Hz — A — Third Eye Chakra
486 Hz — B — Crown Chakra
The 256 Hz C frequency is traditionally associated with the Root Chakra, or Muladhara, in contemporary chakra and sound-healing systems. The Root Chakra is commonly connected with grounding, stability, physical presence, security, and connection with the earth.
The 432 Hz tuning reference creates a slightly lower musical tuning than the commonly used 440 Hz reference. For practitioners working with a 432 Hz sound system, this creates a consistent foundation for the seven frequencies used throughout the chakra collection.
A traditional Tibetan singing bowl produces far more than a single stated frequency. When played, the bowl generates a complex combination of its fundamental tone, harmonics, overtones, and sustained vibration. The result is a living, evolving sound rather than a simple single-frequency tone.
This complexity is one of the defining characteristics of a traditional metal singing bowl. The craftsmanship itself influences the sound. Diameter, wall thickness, curvature, weight, metal composition, and the precise shaping of the bowl all contribute to its final voice.
Traditional Craftsmanship
A genuine handmade Himalayan singing bowl is not simply stamped or manufactured into a predetermined shape.
The raw metal is progressively worked by skilled artisans through repeated stages of heating, shaping, forming, refining, sizing, smoothing, and tuning. The bowl is handled again and again as the artisan works toward the desired proportions and acoustic characteristics.
It can take thousands of individual hammering, shaping, and finishing actions across the making process to bring a bowl to its final form. The artisan is not only creating the physical vessel but carefully working toward the bowl's intended size, weight, thickness, note, resonance, and tonal character.
This traditional process is central to what makes these instruments special. It is also why handmade Himalayan bowls can have subtle individual differences even when they belong to the same frequency family.
For this collection, the intention is to preserve the traditional metal singing-bowl approach rather than replace it with modern crystal or factory-produced alternatives. Crystal singing bowls have their own sound and place in contemporary sound practices, but they are not part of the ancient Tibetan/Himalayan metal-bowl tradition represented by these instruments.
Sound, Tradition & Research
Singing bowls have historically been used in Himalayan and Buddhist contemplative environments, and their use has expanded into contemporary meditation, relaxation, yoga, sound baths, and complementary therapeutic practices.
Modern research is beginning to investigate these practices more systematically.
A 2025 systematic review published in Integrative Medicine Research identified 19 clinical studies from eight countries examining singing-bowl interventions. The studies investigated a broad range of outcomes, including anxiety, depression, sleep, pain, psychological wellbeing, cognitive function, and physiological measures. The review concluded that singing bowls may have potential benefits for anxiety, depression, sleep quality, cognitive function, and certain physiological outcomes, while recognizing differences in study quality and the need for further research.
A separate 2025 systematic review specifically examining Tibetan singing bowls included 14 quantitative studies involving adults. The review found that most studies reported reductions in anxiety and depressive symptoms, improvements in wellbeing and quality of life, and changes in measures such as heart-rate variability and heart rate. Some studies also reported changes in brainwave activity. The researchers emphasized that the available studies vary in quality and that stronger controlled research is still needed.
This growing body of research provides an emerging scientific basis for exploring singing-bowl sound and vibration as a complementary practice for relaxation and psychological wellbeing.
The association between 256 Hz and the Root Chakra, however, belongs to contemporary chakra and sound-healing traditions rather than being an established biomedical mechanism in which a particular frequency has been scientifically proven to heal or repair a chakra.

Repeatedly shaped, refined, sized, finished, and tuned by hand
Rich fundamental tone with complex harmonic overtones
Deep, sustained resonance for meditation and focused listening
Ideal for grounding-focused sound practices
Suitable for meditation, yoga, breathwork, sound baths, and professional sound therapy
First frequency in the complete 7 Chakra 432 Hz Singing Bowl System
How to Use
Place the singing bowl on the included protective bowl cushion or another stable, suitable surface.
Gently strike the outer wall of the bowl and allow the sound to develop naturally. Listen as the fundamental tone and harmonic overtones emerge, expand, and gradually fade.
For a sustained singing tone, slowly move the appropriate striker around the outer rim of the bowl using steady, gentle pressure. Allow the bowl to build resonance gradually rather than forcing the sound.
For Root Chakra-focused meditation, use the 256 Hz C tone as an auditory point of focus. Sit comfortably, breathe naturally, and allow your attention to rest on the evolving sound and vibration.
The bowl can be incorporated into yoga, breathwork, grounding rituals, meditation, sound baths, relaxation practices, chakra-focused rituals, and professional sound therapy sessions.
Allow the resonance to fade naturally before repeating.
